You cut back on cable?! I'm not sure I could do it (now you know what I'm addicted to!).

Here's what I'm grateful for:

1) The fact that my hubby is FINALLY back from his LOOOONG business trip to Cali. I was getting lonely.
2) For the rain (and the fact that it's forcing my husband to stay inside instead of doing yardwork)
3) For a much needed break this morning when we went to a free concert downtown... it was fun.

P.S. I got your book in the mail yesterday... my hubby saw it on the counter and said "OOOOH... the husband project" and got all excited. I read the first few chapters of The Marriage Project last night and have already recruited two of my MOPS girls to do it simultaneously with us. I can't wait. Thanks!

Oooh ooh ooh I WANT that book. I read an except from the book years ago and thought it was phenomenal. I hope you pick my name!

Today I am thankful for this DVD series called Prayers that Heal the Heart - very encouraging. Plus I got to watch it with a friend. Everything is better with a friend, no?

I'm thankful that my husband has a job. Yes! I'm thankful that my kids are having a great summer. I'm thankful that I get to write more this summer. I'm thankful for our Writer's group. The list could go on, but I'll stop there. Thank you Lord for your MANY blessings and please let Kathi choose my name for the book. Amen Hee hee.

I am thankful that my hubby is willing to move an hour away from his job just so that I can be closer to my side of the family.

I am thankful that my children are starting to feel better. They have been sick for a week or so.

And I am thankful that I have beautiful blog posts to read that seem to pop up just when I need to be reminded of something...(like to remember to focus on gratitude :)

I am thankful for God's grace and love. We made mistakes financially and realized that we would be losing our home. God knew the things we were going to go through (we have five kids) and allowed us to go through the financial hardships we did as a way to get us to see how to be better stewards. Our kids never went hungry and we were able to live in the house long enough to pay other bills and to set up a budget for us to live within our means. When the time came to find a new place to live, we thanked God for the lessons we learned and respectfully asked for a home that would allow us to grow closer as a family and a floor plan that would allow us to invite people from church and youth group and that it would be rent we could afford.

God is so good that he answered our prayers (even the prayers of the kids as they asked for a pool -- I was NOT expecting we would get one). Well, we have a larger home that we had before with a floor plan that allows for youth to come over, Bible studies, pot luck dinners, and..........it came with a swing set in the back yard, a pool, and three mature fruit trees.

We still use the "envelope" system to help us stay within our budget but it's working for us. We are very thankful that while we had a very hard 18 months and feeling as though we were drowning in a black hole, we turned to the Lord and submitted to HIS will for our family. We now have a great testimony to share with others as well.
