Mr Pita Pizzas
Roger and I are eating these Pita Pizzas a couple of times a week. The Mr. Pita pita is only two Weight Watcher points and so worth it. We pile it up with Safeway marinara (with roasted garlic and onions) low-fat cheese, mushrooms, purple onions and turkey pepperoni. Put them in a 400 degree oven for 12 minutes and voila: Guilt-free pizza. Happy, happy Kathi.

The Kids Are All Right
I am listening to this on the iPod right now. It is a memoir about four kids who lose both parents in a short amount of time. While it is heartbreaking and much of the book so far is how these kids were abandoned and neglected by the adults who were charged to take care of them after their parent’s death, I can’t help but sympathize with the grown-ups who had to deal with these bratty, spoiled, and entitled kids. (I know that was not the desired effect of the authors.) Regardless, it is a very entertaining read and my dog is benefiting by longer walks so I can keep listening.

The Bachelor
OK don’t hate me – but I am in that gray area of knowing that this show is COMPLETELY ridiculous but that it’s like a car wreck that I can’t look away from.
I posted one little comment on Facebook about the crazy that is The Bachelor (full disclosure, I think I have seen 3 or 4 whole episodes in my life) and had over 50 comments on it.
A lot of you are in the same boat – you just can’t look away. You bachelor regulars – did I just come in on the most overly-produced crazy episode? Or is every week “The most shocking ever?”

Q4U: As you can see, I am lacking much of spiritual substance at this point. In the comments, please give me a glimpse of some of your current obsessions this week, and then do me a favor – tell me about anything you are reading that has any spiritual depth whatsoever. I need to be redeemed after watch Jake ask for his rose back.
I don’t watch much TV. I just finished reading The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind about a boy in Africa who built a windmill that supplied electricity to his rural home. Great book.
I agree with Lucy, The Bait of Satan is an amazing book – a must read for any Christian.
This is the first season that I HAVEN’T watched the Bachelor. I’ve felt guilty for the last couple of seasons watching it…it’s awful. But that’s not why I’m not watching it…I just couldn’t stomach Jake..he’s so robotic..I know he’s a sweet guy…I wish him well..but I figured now was as good a time as any to detox from the show! ;o)
I’m currently obsessed with Fringe (catching up to the current season, Thank You, Netflix) and impatiently waiting for 24 and lost. That’s it for me and TV.
As for books, I just finished The Bathtub Is Overflowing but I Feel Drained: How to Defeat Mommy Stress, and Becoming More Than a Good Bible Study Girl by Lisa Terkeurst. Loved them. And I’m excitedly awaiting the arrival of my signed copy of The Husband Project!! ;o)
Hey, Kathi! I love how real you are, girl! Thanks for letting us (ANTM and Idol) addicts know that some frivolity is expected (if not always the BEST thing 😉 Anywho – I’m reading “spiritual friendship” by Mindy Caliguire and it’s kind of a workbook thing about deepening relationships as a matter of caring for your soul – it’s a good read – I’m going to recommend it to our “thursdaynightchurchgroup.” Love you!
I am also an avid “Bachelor” watcher. My daughter & I like the drama..so entertaining! Isn’t that what T.V’s for? Great entertainment?
I am also going thru some serious FB “withdrawals”. I was obsessed.
My family complained because I stopped serving them hot meals, house was a mess, son’s band & wrestling attire wasn’t clean on time, laundry got backed up & I stopped being interested in their day etc..I’m a stay@home mom so this is not good. I’m not feeding my children Ouch!
They suggested I decompress for awhile & I took their advice.
Meanwhile I have found an old book to read
“The Bait of Satan” which is about getting offended in the church, pastor’s etc. It’s a very good read!
This week I’m obsessed with Starbucks. Between Hubby being out of town and morning sickness, I’m really having a hard time getting up and out the door in the mornings. So Starbucks is the reward for getting myself and my 4 year old off to preschool/work on time 🙂
I’m currently reading one thing and on thing only – my Bible. We’re doing a church challenge of reading the Bible in 90 days. It’s easier then I thought it might be, but leaves no time for anything else.
I am reading “Simple Church” by Thom Rainer and Eric Geiger, and “Fearless” by Max Lucado, and, as always, the Bible (Today: Gen 28-29 and Psalm 7 & 8).
Sorry, no comment on the TV shows. I mostly watch old reruns on TVLand…and Extreme Home Makeover.
We moved house last May, and simply never hooked up the cable, so we don’t watch TV 24/7, in fact we now watch it 0/7!!! That said, I really missed those crazy suck-you-in-despite-yourself reality favs, The Bachelor, Survivor, and Project Runway. Oh, and Top Chef!! Then last week I discovered you can watch them online. Uh, oh. So I settled in through 4 episodes of Survivor Samoa, and the next day CBS deleted the rest of the Samoa series from the website. Ugh.
Then I tuned in to the Bachelor on Tuesday night, and watched the first two episodes. Wow. The DRAMA!!! My hubby kept looking over my shoulder, then finally pulled up a chair. He could not believe that he was getting hooked into The Bachelor again!!! (Like the rest of us). Anyway, he is very sad that Roslyn went home, ’cause she was such a sweetheart. (I hit him for all of us)(lightly, lol).
Anyway, my current obsession is ME. Hahaha. I am doing a 21 day Daniel fast, working out at the gym (my Christmas present from my wonderful husband who knows I’d never spend the money on myself, so he did it for me), scheduling my housework, staying on top of the mess/clutter that tends to materialize daily with little kids, and joining my first Ladies Bible Study at church, because I have been digging deeper in fits and starts, and need to get a bit more consistent in this new year. Am working daily devotions into the new schedule… when I remember to set the alarm! I need an alarm to remind me to set the alarm.
Anyway, it’s my best start to a new year EVER!
I think I have only watched one episode of The Bachelor, just can’t get into it. I do like your pizza idea and it’s easy for the kids to get into making their own. Thank you for the idea.
With three very young kids I don’t get to reading much. However, our MOPS group will be hosting Susy Flory in a few months so I’m reading her book, “So Long, Status Quo: What I Learned From Women Who Changed The World”. 45 pages into the book and I just started it, which is saying a ton for me.
Like Tish, I was obsessed with Farming on FB and spent too much time on it. I looked up from my laptop to find my husband wants a divorce. Now I am absorbed with prayer and reading. The 2 books I am reading are “The Love Dare” and “The Power of the Praying Wife”. Nothing else seems important right now than having God change me and my husband.
lol…When it comes to The Bachelor every episode is shocking.
My current obsession is FarmVille…lol…I gotta go harvest my crops. I even just order me a FarmVille apron. Being a mother of 7 I need to just check out sometimes of reality.
On my ipod I’m listening to The Shack.
It Is ALWAYS the most shocking episode ever. I love the cheesiness of it anyways, oh well! It just amazes me how quickly people forget they’re on camera.
One of my current obsessions is emergen-C for me (love the acaii berry flavor!) and Boiron Chestal honey cough for my 3 yr old. She loves it and hasn’t refused it yet like she has all the other cough syrups in the past (it’s natural and homeopathic so I feel better about giving it to her too). My other current obsession is Biggest Loser – I am so impressed by their braveness! I am reading a great book put out by Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) called Real Moms – it breaks down a lot of the myths out there about what we think “real” moms do/should do. It’s been a very comforting and inspiring read. 🙂
