Fabu-You Friday is where I take one of the AWESOME letters I’ve received from one of you – my favorite readers- about how one of the principles in my books has made your life just a little bit better. Each Friday, I will send the chosen letter-writer a Dory charm (suitable to put anywhere you darn well choose…) and one of the randomly chosen comments a copy of the book that inspired the comment. (If you already own the book, I would be happy to send it to a friend of yours who needs a little boost.) See the question at the end of the post for your chance to comment and win!
Hi Kathi,
I just wanted to let you know how the Me project is going. I’m only on day 3, but you gotta start somewhere. My afternoon didn’t go as I had planned, but when I was done, I realized that my time spent supported 4 of the dreams I’d put in my journal and I wanted to share it with you. My husband, kids and I spent the afternoon working in our backyard destroying an old sandbox and moving all the sand into our truck. This is how it applies to the Me project.
First one of my dreams was more quality time with my husband – totally got some of that today.
2nd was more quality time with my kids – again, got lots of that today. Team Robinson Rocks!
3rd – to have the kind of backyard that I can entertain and relax in without always focusing on what needs to get done. – Dealing with the old sandbox was one step closer.
4th – getting healthy. I burned so many calories today and used muscles I haven’t used in a long time.
You are so right. Once you put down on paper your dreams, you start to notice how your everyday life directs you toward the ones that are part of God’s will too. Can’t wait to see what God has planned next.
Ashleigh
Way to go Ashleigh! Once you write your dreams and goals down, it becomes so much clearer to see how God is taking everyday steps to make your big dreams a tiny step closer!
Q4U – What is one of the goals that you want to take a step closer to this year. (Or one you are already taking steps closer to!) Comment below – we will announce the winner next Friday.
I have been wanting to write a childrens books series for quite some time now. I have great ideas for WHAT I want them to be but NO idea on how to get started..so I am going to spend time on me, finding out how to go about this. Yay Me! 🙂
I spent this past weekend in SF with two lovely friends. It just so happened that I packed the “Me Project”. I’ve been praying about my 50 Goals and writing them down in my journal. I gave my only copy (blank) of the Me Project to one of my gal pals. She was very grateful. So, I need to order a new copy. In the meantime, I have the “Husband Project” to work on:)
I got to know you because I purchased your book, The Husband Project a few months back. I have read a few chapters but I looked up your website and subscribed to your daily posts.
The goals that I am working on at the moment are: Started exercising at home and I sometimes walk to the kids school to pick them up after school on the non-rainy days. I live in the Bay Area and you know how weather has been lately.
I decided that on the rainy days, I will workout at home. I have finished two weeks of workouts at home. I feel very energized. I visited my doctor on Monday and she was happy that I was working out, because I am 10 lbs. over my normal range.
Another personal goal was to have regular quiet time with God first thing every morning. There are days, I set this time aside, and I notice a great difference in my day. I am more stressful, than on the days I first focus on God and his word.
I do plan to work on the Husband projct too. My husband is not a believer, I have been praying for him for 14 years. He is a good man, but there are times he wants to interfere with my spiritual walk and I do not allow that. God should always be my first priority.
My husband and I are working on something that combines several very special goals: We had an adoption of a boy in Ukraine fall apart last year, but not until we’d established a relationship with him. We have reinforced to him that we still consider him family, and we do what we can to provide for his needs and encourage him and stay in touch. In August we’re going to spend time with him at the Christian Center where he lives!!!! This covers SO many goals:
*Go on missions trip with my husband
*Meet Sasha
*Visit the Center and spend time there with the kids, all of whom we’ve come to know by name now
*Figure out a way to do something to bless this Center on an ongoing basis (we hosted a Christmas project, where each child was given gifts by an American family at Christmas, and some continue to be in touch, and now we’re going and raising support in gifts and financial donations toward the Center!)
*Create a business that exists to support adoption and orphan care efforts (my friend and I are currently in a planning/praying phase of sharpening our vision of how to do this….. it’ll be interesting, for sure – lots of good ideas we’re mulling over!)
So thank you, Kathi, for The Me Project. It is truly a blessing to have that written list of dreams. They spring to life from those pages with a God-given vitality when we commit to being intentional about living the life God has created us to live!
