Project #5
Getting your kitchen to work for you.
What is your all time favorite kitchen gadget? I don’t know about you but I like to have and use anything that might make dinner prep quicker. Whether it is chopping, grating, mixing, stirring, cutting, mincing, shredding, baking, blending processing, kneading and so on….
Tell me in the comments below your favorite kitchen gadget and how it gets dinner on the table and you can win
My Pampered Chef Deep Covered Baker! I use it almost everyday! I can make almost anything in it in the micowave in 30min or less! I now cook healthy yummy meals fast and only a little clean up so it works better for me then anything else,.
The green ceramic pampered chef knives; one serrated and one not. Along with my kitchensid mixer that is almost 23 years old. On my wish list is an immersion blender and mandoline.
Holy Cow! Dad’s visiting from Utah and bought me a large size George Foreman grill! Easy to use, easy to clean, healthy and makes the BEST grilled asparagus (and other grilled veggies of course!). So far…the grilled veggies and gourmet apple bacon have been unbeatable!! I thought it was gonna be hokey at first, but boy was I wrong! Thanks dad!
I love my KitchenAid mixer. Its on its last leg and will have to be replaced soon but I use it several times a week. Such a time saver!
I have just recently started to embrace my waffle maker. So I’m making all kinds of things on it. I love making cinnamon rolls on it. It just takes 1 minute to cook them. Then I discovered you can make cookies. Wow. My new tool. But I love them all. Aloha Kathi
My favorite kitchen gadget is an Alaska skinning knife. It’s the one with the curved blade, and a handle that is easy for arthritic hands to grasp. I’m not fond of electric anything, so having a knife that fits my hand and will chop carrots, celery, or will slice through an apple has quickly become my favorite gadget.
I really like my salad shooter. It chops up celery carrots. It also shreds cheese. It saves a lot of time!
Love my ninja blender, it can turn ice into snow and makes a fabulous smoothie!
I love my Salad Shooter! Use it to slice veggies for soup, grate cheese for pizza, and shred potatoes for hash browns, all w/the push of a button!
My BlendTec Blender. We just got it a few months ago, and use it almost every day. We love to do smoothies, but it can also make (and heat!) soups in just a couple of minutes, we make soft-serve ice cream in it, it makes bread crumbs for meatloaf or chicken parmesan in only a few seconds, or crumbs for a graham cracker crust. We cooked our own pumpkins and making puree from the flesh was a cinch – we’ve made pumpkin bread, pumpkin pie, pumpkin cheesecake, pumpkin soup… I am actually looking forward to doing baby food purees next month when my baby is old enough. You can even make bread dough. Maybe the biggest plus – my husband has gotten more involved in the food prep because he loves the blender so much!
My pampered chef knives… They are so sharp and makes everything so easy to chop
My favorite gadget is the Pampered chef Large Micro-cooker. Throw rice, veggies, etc in with water and it cooks it in minutes, has an attached strainer, and goes right on the table. Cheaper than those steamed veggie bags. http://www.pamperedchef.com/ordering/prod_details.tpc?prodId=251&catId=96&parentCatId=&xPrntItmId=2779
I also love the kid safe knives. My favorite kitchen gadget are our 3 kids under 6… I get those 6 little hands busy in the kitchen. My kids do the salad and prep the veggies each night. I put those knives in our salad box in the fridge with all the salad fixins. http://www.pamperedchef.com/ordering/prod_details.tpc?prodId=9761&words=kid
I do not sell pampered chef. Thanks for coming to our Creekside Mops group. My hubbie and I go out on a date night each money night. We live a mile from a Christian college and hire a student for 3 hours. She gets to use our laundry facility (no coins required) and we give her $20. Date nights can be expensive… but divorces cost more. My hubby and I run the dating ministry at our church. We do it every 2 months… drop your kids off at the church for $10 a night… $25 family max. http://www.creekside-online.com/#/connect/date-night
A few years ago, my husband’s aunt gave us four Chef quality knives. WoW! I had always heard about good knives and thoguht I had used some, but the weight combined with a sharp edge makes it so easy to cut, mince, chop, peel slice almost anything that I want to do except mix and froth (love my froth wand). And my favorite part is the clean-up is easy. I don’t have to disassemble a gadget, wash it by hand and then wait around for it to dry. 1, 2, 3 they are clean and put away. We have a small 4 inch knife, a serrated 8inch knife, a bread knife and a chopping knife…..I really don’t know the names, but I love to use them. Because of the weight/thickness of the blade of the bread knife – I once cut a rock hard load of sour dough bread into cubes with ease and made stuffing. It was great. 🙂
I love all my kitchen gadgets, my favorite is my Deep Covered Baker from Pampered Chef, I use it all the time, mostly in the microwave to make dinner in about 15 min. I throw and onion, peppers and a couple of chicken breasts in with some seasoning and I have delicious fajitas without the work in 15 minutes. I also could not live without my ever faithful coffee pot!
Is the microwave a gadget? I learned how to use mine in the early days of marriage during hot Southern California summers. It was so nice to be able to cook without heating up the house! Many years later, in Washington State, I still find myself using it to prepare side dishes for each meal. My kid’s favorites from the microwave are the rice crispy treats and chocolate pudding cake. 😉
I don’t know why, but I love my can strainer from Pampered Chef. I can open up my cans, put the strainer on, let them drain and keep right on cooking. I love it because it is so small and not the big bulky strainer that you would use for noodles, etc.
I love my electric skillet! I cook on there and (when his is home to help) my husband cooks on the stove. PErfect way to get dinner done faster!
I love kitchen gadgets, I’m kind of a nerd when it comes to them.
My recent favorite is a spatzle maker. My family fell in love with the German noodles when we lived there for 3 years and I just found out I can make these noodles from scratch very easily and quickly with this tool. We are all so happy!
I love my apple corer! The kind you just press down on the apple and it slices and takes the core out in two seconds. Makes it so nice and easy to serve hungry kids something healthy – quickly!
Love my Crockpot! Got a new one for my birthday with the clamps that hold the lid down so it travels better. (had a disaster one Thanksgiving with a crockpot full of sweet potatoe casserole that survived a 2 1/2 hr trip only to tip over at the last turn).
My favorite kitchen gadget doesn’t need to be plugged in. It’s my blue Oxo paring knife with blade cover. The color makes me happy, it fits my hand well and it’s sharp so there is no messing around. I use it every day!
Crockpot!!! I don’t use it nearly as often as I should but always am impressed and saved by it.
It’s my Rotisserie – I use it all the time. Chicken, beef, kabobs-set it, and forget it. I can have a whole roasted chicken in about one hour. My family loves it too!
Love Love Love my food processor. I used it daily for making purees for my son, but I truly fell in love with it when grating zuchini for pinapple zuchini bread a few months ago.
I love my mixer. Couldn’t make sweet potato pie with out having it around.
