Hi friends! Yesterday I got to sit down with Author Pam Farrel and talk about Hope. We all need hope in a world where it’s sometimes very difficult to see the good. I admitted to you in yesterday’s post and in our conversation that I haven’t been a fan of the adult coloring trend. Here more about that and get a pick me in the video below.
What I really want you to know about is the awesome giveaway we are doing. I am giving away 5 of Pam’s new book, Discovering Hope in the Psalms, plus a super fun Quiet Time pack filled with all of my favorite things to have with me when I am doing quiet time with the Lord including:
• Discovering Hope in the Psalms
• This beautiful Study Bible for Women
• A set of colored pencils for exploring God through creativity
• My favorite cup for hot and cold drinks Hydro Flask
• My very favorite pen, the Uniball Air Micro
• An assortment of teas (to keep those creative juices flowing).

I loved coloring as a kid. I still have some of my old books. I could use some Hope this season. I have been feeling excluded and down this year. Merry Christmas!
I love the idea of coloring and studying the Bible and having my girls see me doing both at the same time.
I feel that coloring is very relaxing. It brings me back to when I was a kid and colored for fun. I color with my kids and they like the adult coloring books as well. Less stress is always welcome!
I haven’t gotten into adult coloring books yet, but I’d love to win one to try!
I have not been at all into adult coloring. In fact, I’ve probably judged people who have done it bc I can’t imagine having that kind of time to “waste” on coloring. But your description of it has me seeing it in a whole new light. Maybe there’s hope for me!
I have resisted the coloring trend, but I want to dive in to the deep end with Pam’s book! It looks great and she writes nothing but good stuff! I could use some grown-up time outs!
My mom has always colored with me. So I never thought about whether or not it was ‘in-vogue’ to color. I love that we have more choices now since it’s in-style to color as an adult. 🙂
Really love adult coloring as I find it very relaxing. I also find it very helpful when attempting to memorize scripture.
Love adult coloring. I find it very relaxing and use for meditating when I try memorize scripture.
I love coloring.
I love to color! I just don’t seem to have time anymore.
I like to color, but I’ve been doing more watercolor lately. Helps my mind un-focus.
I love sitting with my 15 yr old daughter and coloring. Giving myself permission to sit and do it is sometimes hard…but I just remind myself spending time with her is more important than housework!
I like to color verses and pray as I do.
Sounds like a great way to spend some time with the Lord!
I am not in to adult coloring, but my daughters love it.
I haven’t got into the coloring trend, but I’d love to give it a try!
I definitely enjoy the adult coloring phenomenon. I am a single Mom of 3 kiddos all under the age of 14. I have no family or support system here and have them 24/7/365 as the other parent is not involved (by choice). So I work full-time, take care of the kiddos, lead online Bible studies and help care for the 180-acre ranch that I live on. Coloring is “me” time–before the kids wake up in the still of the morning or late at night after they have gone to bed. It helps me connect with Jesus and my own heart, and brings me hope and inspiration. Thank you so much for doing this incredible giveaway, someone will be hugely blessed by it!
I enjoy coloring when I have time, but I should do it more often because I do find it to be very relaxing!!
I enjoy coloring when I have time. I’m really enjoying my Inspire bible. I’ve had my eyes on Pam’s study since I first saw it!
I can’t wait to check out Pam’s book! As far as coloring goes I just don’t feel like I have the time. If I did sit down to color I would just get more stressed out as my to-do list flashed through my head and I would feel like I’m wasting time coloring. I have other ways to relax.
I like to color on occasion. I reserve it for those moments when I’m particularly out of sorts and can’t focus.
I do enjoy coloring, but I don’t love how extremely detailed the “adult” coloring books are. I don’t have that kind of patience! I prefer easier to color pictures like the little kids get!
I totally understand that and I prefer less detail as well. But once I started enjoying adult coloring, all my loved ones started giving me everything from coloring books to calendars (for both the wall and desk) to greeting cards for coloring! I found a way of getting around the issue of too much detail to color in. Now I just color in a few areas on the page, maybe just the main center attraction and a few details surrounding it. I leave the rest black and white. Less to color in this way, plus I find that I actually enjoy the contrast of the colored sections vs. the black lines w/ white background. Hope that’s helpful to all those who enjoy coloring but don’t want to color in all that detail. Just a little color makes it pop! 🙂
Thank you, Kathi and Pam! I’m here in California not far from you, Kathi 🙂 Heard you speak at Twin Lakes Church in Aptos once. As an artist I love coloring, and I love spending time w/ Jesus too — what a great combination to do both at the same time! Pls pray for my friend “e” who fell this morning and hurt her ankle. She needs hope, and healing! You are both a big blessing to all of us!
This looks like such a great resource. I’m a writer and an artist, and I need to make more time for art, like I did when I was in college.
I am so happy I watched the Facebook video. I am currently searching for hope in a very difficult time. It was just what I needed in this moment. The book sounds amazing! Thank you Pam and Kathi for ministering to me today. What a great reminder to accumulate praises. I love that!
Most of them are too intricate for me but my daughter got me one last year that I like, Joy for the Journey.
Kathi, I’m laughing because I have coloring books, coloring scripture, PDF sheets from authors, and new pencils but I continue to hold off on using them! I know I will enjoy this creative format. My issue is I can’t let myself begin when I’m still decluttering my office and calming my overwhelmed self! I loved coloring as a child and now my almost 2 year old grandson is coloring with his big egg shaped crayons. Maybe that’s what will get me going – sitting with him as he creates new scenes for nana. I solved my dilemma by commenting. Yay!
Love you and Pam!
I bought an adult coloring book for myself and my daughters took it to color in.
I think I would enjoy the coloring. I loved it as a child but lost my creativity. It would be good to go back.
I wish I had the time to color and read more!
I just can’t get into the adult coloring books but I can see how it could be calming. It’s just isn’t for me.
I love coloring and reading books!
I find colouring relaxing and it gives me a break from a hectic life.
I’ve gotten back into coloring as an adult as I find it is very calming in my world of homeschooling, and the kids just love it! 🙂 Of course, giving myself permission to take the time to color and relax is the hardest!
“Hold on to hope for today, and trust (the Lord) for her tomorrow.”
So good!
I love to color! Always have. Before there were adult coloring books, I would buy kids’ ones.
I love to use adult coloring books……..when I find time!!!!!!
